LWTZE FORUM ADDRESSES ISSUES ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

LWTZE FORUM ADDRESSES ISSUES ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
It was a scholarly gathering at Terra Kulture Victoria Island, on Friday 25th July as LWTZE (Lady With The Zoom Effect) Concept organised a forum titled “Domestic Violence And Climate Change: A Concealed Analogy.”
The forum was borne out of the need to foster peaceful co-existence among Nigerians and ensure sustainable development.
Nationally and internationally, Climate Change and Domestic Violence had evoked strong reactions from different scholars in the field. Speaking at the forum, Joe Odumakin said Climate change as a global issue arouses wide concern in the international community and it is one of the greatest challenges that humanity faces in the 21st century. As an issue not just of environment sustainability but also of development, climate change needs to be responded to within the context of development.
Also, with intense research, it has been observed that Climate Changes breeds violence in all forms including domestic violence which has become a norm in Nigeria. According to the UN reports, domestic violence in the past 3 years has risen from 1 percent in 2011 to 40 percent in 2014. Traditionally, Domestic Violence is committed against female folks in forms of Rape, Acid Attacks, Molestation, Wife Beating and Corporate Punishment. In order to address this unhealthy situation, Yeancah Adamu, Director, Lady with the Zoom Effect, said the forum aims at ensuring a balance between economic and environmental priorities.
The speakers for the day were Joe Odumakin: ace human rights activist, Kolawole Oyeyemi: GM Marketing, MTN, Engr Shabi Adebola: GM Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, Engr Ogunbambi: Representative of Ministry of Environment (PS), Dr Akin Akinteye: Social Secretary Unilag Alumni and Psychologist, Dr Babatunde Obada: CEO Biofuel Oil. The event was quite a memorable one for all attendees as Hemingway's Safaris gave out vouchers for participants to win a free accommodation in a resort/hotel on a trip to their dream destinations.

LWTZE FORUM 25th JULY TERRA KULTURE 2PM prompt

2014 LWTZE FORUM ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Open invitation
Climate change is a global issue arousing wide concern in the international community and one of the greatest challenges that humanity faces in the 21st century. As an issue not just of environment sustainability but also of development, climate change needs to be responded to within the context of development, and it needs immediate and innovative actions by the international community if we are to establish a “low-carbon society”.
Also we observe, Domestic violence in Nigeria is a problem as in many parts of Africa with an unacceptable deep cultural belief in Nigeria that it is socially satisfactory to hit a woman to discipline a spouse. Because we understand Domestic violence is widespread and shows no sense sign of lessening in Nigeria, as UN reports says domestic violence in the past 3 years has risen from 1 percent in 2011 to 40 percent in 2014, this year’s forum intends to have a blend of Climate Change and Domestic Violence, to address this troubling index.
The 2014 LWTZE forum on climate change and domestic violence, reflects the core values of 2014 World Economic and advance the objectives of United Nations Industrial Development (UNIDO), the International Energy Conservation Environment Protection Agency (IEEPA), along with International Agencies on Environmental Protection. With “Domestic Violence and Climate Change: A Concealed Analogy as its topic, the aim of the forum is to help find a balance between economic and environmental priorities. With low-carbon development and awareness against domestic violence as the guiding light, the forum aspires to help consensus-building among Government Officials, Experts and Scholars, Enterprise Leaders and International Organizations, and have a wider impact though reporting in the Print, Electronic and Social Media.
Traditionally, Domestic Violence is committed against females Common forms of violence against women in Nigeria are Rape, Acid Attacks, Molestation, Wife Beating and Corporate Punishment. As the Nigerian Government has taken legal proceeding to prosecute men who abuse their women in several states and current push emerge in Nigeria for federal laws concerning dom domestic violence, It is also hoped that the result of the forum can be useful to help Government form better policies on Environmental Protection and Fight against Domestic Violence in any form (including Physical, Sexual, Emotional and Mental).
Through expected robust brainstorming session, Lady with the Zoom Effect INC LWTZE, hope to create opportunities and challenges of low carbon development, the potential strategies for the development of key emerging industries, low carbon city construction, trends on the development of advanced energy technologies, opportunities for enterprises in the Nigeria’s response to climate change, policies to promote innovation in advance energy technologies, development of new-energy enterprises and so on.
On Friday, July 25th at Terra Kulture TIME:2PM Prompt, Victoria island, Lagos, the forum shall be built around two round-table meetings with “Domestic Violence And Climate Change: A Concealed Analogy.” at diverse session of discussions. I am glad to invite you to attend this forum, and look forward to your active support and participation.

LWTZE DIRECTOR YEANCAH ADAMU CRITICIZES NIGERIAN KIDNAPPING

LWTZE DIRECTOR YEANCAH ADAMU CRITICIZES NIGERIAN KIDNAPPING
Lady with Zoom Effect LWTZE INC, Director Yeancah Adamu took the rare step of delivering press statement to express outrage over the kidnapping of some 200 girls in Nigeria last month.
She admitted the unconscionable act was committed by a terrorist group determined to keep these girls from getting an education - grown men attempting to snuff out the aspirations of young girls.

Nigeria had notice of Boko Haram attack, says Amnesty Very concept of female education at stake in Nigeria UN threatens action over Nigerian school-girls ‘abduction

Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan has said he believed the girls, abducted by militant Islamist group Boko Haram, were still in his country. Militants stormed a secondary school in the village of Chibok, near the Cameroon border, on April 14th, and kidnapped the girls, who were taking exams at the time. Fifty have since escaped, but more than 200 remain with the insurgents. The United States had sent a team of experts to Nigeria to support the government’s response effort, which was earlier criticized for being slow.

LWTZE Director confirmed that the school where the girls were abducted had been closed recently because of terrorist threats, but the girls insisted on coming back to take exams. She says the chibok tragedy is an everyday Occurrence as girls around the world risk their lives to pursue their ambitions, a rampant practice she said must stop.

LWTZE CONVEYS DISAPPROVAL OF THE KIDNAP OF NIGERIAN GIRLS

LWTZE CONVEYS DISAPPROVAL OF THE KIDNAP OF NIGERIAN GIRLS
Lady with the Zoom Effect LWTZE INC strongly condemned the abduction of hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls, as the organization begins campaign for their rescue.

The swift reaction came after Amnesty International said that Nigeria’s military had been warned of an attack on a school in which more than 200 girls were abducted by Boko Haram Islamists weeks ago, but failed to act for nearly five hours. The Nigerian military denied the allegation and has launched a round-the-clock search for the missing girls.

At least 10 army search teams were trying to track down the girls in the remote far northeast, border guards were on high alert and the air force had so far flown at least 250 sorties. Nigeria is keen to demonstrate that it is finally acting to trace the 223 girls still missing, after three weeks where the teenagers parents and families accused them of inaction and indifference.

But Amnesty’s allegations are likely to heap further pressure on Nigeria’s embattled government and military. The unanimous UN Security Council declaration said the mass kidnappings may amount to crimes against humanity under international law, but made no explicit reference to charges in the International Criminal Court. The 15 members of the council said they would follow the situation and consider appropriate measures to take against Boko Haram. LWTZE urged their immediate release, without conditions.

Up to 200 armed Boko Haram fighters eventually abducted 276 girls at about 11:45 pm after fighting a small number of police and soldiers stationed in the town. Lwtze director Yeancah Adamu described the situation as a gross dereliction of Nigeria’s duty to protect civilians, adding that people remained skeptical for future attacks.

Meanwhile the girl’s kidnap and the threat by Boko Haram’s leader Abubakar Shekau in a video that he would sell them as slaves has triggered world outrage and a groundswell of calls for action on social networks. The US team comprises seven military officials from the US Africa regional command AFRICOM, a State Department expert and three FBI personnel, who arrived State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Four others from the State Department and the USAID aid agency had arrive.

Britain has deployed defence ministry personnel, the Foreign Office said, while French diplomatic sources said a small team was also in Abuja and surveillance equipment was being sent. China and Interpol have also pledged expert support for the rescue efforts amid growing international awareness of Nigeria’s Islamist uprising, which has killed thousands since 2009.

LWTZE CONDEMNS ABUJA MOTOR-PARK EXPLOSION,EXPECTS GOVT'S SWIFT ACTION

LWTZE CONDEMNS ABUJA MOTOR-PARK EXPLOSION, EXPECTS GOVT’S SWIFT ACTION
As the nation witnessed another intolerable ‘Black Monday’ of horror, terror and darkness in the nation’s capital, Abuja on Monday 14th April, 2014, where unknown terrorist group released a bomb blast that killed innocent Nigerians in their hundreds, as they anticipate boarding public bus enroute to their workplace from “Yanyan” Park in FCT Precisely “Lady with The Zoom Effect” interprets this coward and dastard act of gruesome murder as coward, wicked, inhuman, and unacceptable before God and humanity.

We condemn this spread of terrorism and unjust killings of civilians who were never prepared to die untimely. This war-prone tragedy remind citizens of how uncertain the security of their lives and properties are, in the wake of Government structure, fast losing its grip on performing its primary responsibility enshrined in the constitution of the land. “Lady with The Zoom Effect” stands against this callous act buried in absolute spread barbarism, tyranny and terror as we appeal to those responsible to have a rethink of any future re-launch because we believe no man has the right to take the life of another.

We also believe the federal Government must swing into action and ensure same old stories of tracking those responsible without productivity should not have a repeat at this instance. We expect Government to compel security agencies to get to work and ensure justice is restored in a country where a sane mind might be tempted to describe as “Banana Republic” To the victims’ families, our deep sympathy and empathy we do not seize to extend, as our condolences reach out to their loved ones as well.

Lady with The Zoom Effect, as an ambassador of the masses expect security agencies to be more proactive and not reactive, place more energy on intelligence gathering, instead of the archaic road-blocks formation. As much as we may intend not to appear schooling security agencies, but we may, under the circumstance be tempted to attempt such voyage of educating their creation because, we expect security formation to avoid future occurrences by hoping for the best and planning for the worse.

It is our idea therefore, to remind their hierarchy that tackling terrorism must include the major P’s of counter-terrorism, which suggest they must always: Prepare, Project, Preserve, Prevent, Protect and Pursue.

For Lady With The Zoom Effect;

Yeancah Adamu

Director, LWTZE

DEPRESSION

Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. It is also known as major depression or clinical depression, it affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problem. Basically people with depression find it hard to go about their day-to-day activities and may also feel that life is not worth living. Feeling down sometimes is part of life but when emptiness and despair take hold and won’t go away that’s depression. Depression is a common but serious illness; it prevents people from functioning normally.
